Random News

Lots of little thoughts roaming around in my head.

Finish It Friday-I didn't feel well most of the weekend, so I wasn't really upset that no one showed up on Friday. I did go out to the shop. I took my laptop and put on my Mandisa cd and then reorganized all my stamp sets. Ciara went skating - she actually earned her $5 with her new chore list. This week it will get tougher. I gave her the opportunity to earn an extra dollar cause she discovered cheese fries at the skating rink and loves them. She said two of her friends bought her some. They will have to buy her some this week if she goes, cause she didn't earn the dollar!

Saturday I went to my friends baby shower. She got rid of her baby equipment after baby number three and lo and behold! now we are preparing for number 4!! We played the cutest games. We made our own bingo cards out of blank ones by writing items that she might get. Then as she opened the presents we got to mark them off. I bingoed first!!! Then we played another game where we had 8 diapers with food in them. It was pretty gross, but I actually guessed 6 out of 8 and won that game. Then we had a baby bottle full of q-tips and were supposed to guess how many. I over guessed. Someone had made the cutest cupcakes with a stick with a lifesaver sticking out the side so they looked like rattles. I actually used very minimal supplies, a scrap of baby looking paper folded in half, torn piece of white with three little dimensional stickers on it, some bubble stickers to spell congrats, and a couple of baby stickers on the inside to make a card in about two minutes right before we left. Ciara said, "You made that card that fast???!!!" I told her sure, I am a a professional!!

Saturday evening I worked on designing cards for my stamp a stack. I had 5 gals come over and make 10 cards for $10. I have the papers cut, so they just stamp and glue. I created two ideas. One was using the paper in the sale-a-bration catalog and a hostess set. I cased this card idea that I found on a blog.

Using diferent colors, I made these cards. I did give my gals choices of blue or green or a mix. Most chose a mix. Then I found an idea in the catalog I really liked with my new stamp set that I hadn't used before. I changed the colors a little to use some of the in colors and came up with a cool card. We used the tearing tool to give it a distressed look and we used the blender pens to color. I don't normally like coloring, but do love the blender pens. We used them with markers, ink pads, and watercolor wonder crayons.

Ciara has a new beau! He is a 3rd grader who she met at the skating rink. I try not to encourage these things, but she had taken a picture of him on her phone, and showed me last night. He was wearing a hat and I said, "He looks like a gangsta!"

She also said that she needs to find a new Sunday School class cause Mr. Greg tells lies. Knowing that Mr. Greg would never tell them a lie, I asked what she meant. She said, "He says that some people take Jesus off and throw him in the dumpster and that is just wrong. No one should do that."
Our church had a visiting speaker tonight. His name was Kujo John. He worked in the South tower and his wife worked in the North Tower of the word's trade center on 9/11. He told of their experiences and their survival. First of all, he was from India, so it was hard to understand what he was saying. He spoke very well, but he still had an accent. He gave his talk about that day and things were pretty good and then he started yelling at us. Have you ever had one of those old tv's that you had to turn up all the way to hear the show, and then the commercials came on and they are really loud? That was the way he was. He would talk a little, then yell a little. It was very distracting and I couldn't wait for it to be over. At the end, he gave an invitation and asked if anyone needed Jesus. Ciara said, "I need Jesus at school." What an understatement! After the week she had last week, I imagine she does.
If you are reading all the way to the end of this, pray for us this week. We have taks tests Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

yea..I can comment. Sometiems it won't let me. It's not just old tV's that have the commercial louder than the show. They plan it that way so when you get up to go do somethign during the commercial..you can still hear it! I love the cards. i so wish i lived in your town. I'd gladly give up a Sunday afternoon to make those 10 cards. I'd come to your Finish it Friday, too! Will pray for you and hope you have a terrific week! Love all your blogs!
