I thought I would share a recipe with you that my step-mom turned me onto and I made for my aunt Sue Thursday night when she got home from work so she could hurry up and play with me (making cards)! It is Paula Dean's chicken pot pie and super easy:
layer chicken, potatoes, vegies (peas and carrots). Mix a cup of broth and a can of cream of chicken soup and pour over vegies. Then mix 1 1/2 cups of bisquick with a cup of milk and pour over the top. Melt a stick of butter and drizzle over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour.
Well, I decided to get Myah and Ciara to help. They peeled potatoes, opened cans, mixed soup mixes and bisquick mixes. I arranged the chicken and vegies in two different casserole dishes, cause I was doubling the recipe. (It is so wonderful that you will want a lot!) So as I was saying, I arranged the chicken and vegies while the girls were mixing their bisquick up and then I told them to pour it over the top. I forgot the soup/broth mix. So.... we just poured that over the top. One casserole dish was really full, so I asked Shari if I should put it on a cookie sheet in case it. She thought it would be ok. So a few minutes later, Ciara yells that something is boiling over. So Shari thinks that we can just shove a cookie sheet under it cause the shelf has a lip on the back. So we start shoving the cookie sheet under the casserole pan and the pan moves to the back of the shelf and starts going up on the lip and starts pouring out the front. So we have to pick it up and by then, there isn't enough liquid to boil over. By the time my aunt gets home, it has started burning on the bottom. Actually, it was delicious, even though it was a mess. I would recommend putting it in the proper order and not filling the dish too full. The next night, when I was banned from kitchen, the mess caught on fire when my aunt was cooking. Today at supper, we burned off the rest! We are having a great time!
Oh, if you noticed my new skin color, I did stay out in the pool too long!
