Summer!!!

I just love summer.  It is so great to have no worries, no stress, nothing demanding your attention.  Being a single mom of one child is great in the summer.  I only have to do what one child wants/does, and then I am free.

Softball is over.  We played our first game in the tournament Friday night against the Bulldogs and they beat us 5 - 0.  I was so sad.  I wanted our team to win first place so bad.  The girls were so disappointed.  Ciara actually came over and cried in my arms when she hit the ball and it went straight to first base and she got out.  She felt like she let her team down.  Another sweet little girl told me, "Sorry that we lost, but maybe we can be on the same team next year."  I sure hope so, cause she was one of the sweetest girls I have ever met.

Summer school is 1/3 over.  Ciara hates it.  She begs me every morning to let her stay home.  She doesn't want to go.  Why did I put myself through this torture???  I could be sleeping late every morning.  (Don't tell Ciara, but I love my mornings alone.  Whether I am awake and doing something, or whether I climb back into bed and sleep the whole time!!)  I keep telling her that sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do and she can make it through.  One of my former students is going.  I asked her about it and she said, "I love it.  That new teacher is so good.  She goes really slow and really explains things to me."  I am happy she loves it, but it made me feel kind of bad.

Our kittens have been entertaining us.  They are finally out from under the chair and all over the house.  They are so cute to watch.  I have four and only have given 2 away so far, so if you need a cute little black kittie, please let me know.  They are adorable.  They are 5 weeks old and we are trying to get them to start eating solid foods.  As you can tell, they are very kid friendly!!

We are going to get a pass to the city pool as soon a the rainy weather lets up.  I can't wait.  I have been working out at the gym every day, but I can't wait to add swimming to my workout sessions.  The gym doesn't seem to like me lately.  I fell off the stinking treadmill and haven't gotten back on yet, and then the other day I tripped over a spinning bike and grabbed the seat to hold on to and had my glasses in my hand and broke them.  They were my favorites.  I am still using them.  I always have trouble with glasses.

I have been paper crafting a lot this summer.  I finished some cards and little totes and took them to The Candy Cottage.  My sweet friend there is going to try to sell them for me.  So run by The Candy Cottage if you need a sweet snack and a greeting card!!  I am selling them for $2.  That is dirt cheap, so go buy them up!  The little tote has 6 cards, 3 gift cards, 3 book marks, a posit note pad and pen.  I am selling it for $20.

I have been cleaning, I mean really cleaning my house.  I can't seem to even look in the laundry room yet, so that is on the list still, but the rest of my house is looking so much better  I am ready to paint if I can find the money.  I play on painting 2 or 3 rooms this summer.  I have only had this house for 8 years and I am finally making some decisions.  I still don't have towel rods in the bathrooms, though!!  Maybe that will come after I paint!

Tomorrow I will have a party for all the retiring sets.  This year they are doing a color change up.  Some of the in colors from past years that I loved are coming back and things are shaking up!!  I think Change is always good.  I will be doing marker and ribbon clubs with the new colors next month.  But if you have a favorite color that is retiring, you better get a new stamp pad, marker, and refill.  I will be offering a discount on that combo.  The party is at 5:30 tomorrow, so come have fun!!  We are also making a father's day card.   The new catalog comes out in July and I already have my first hostess.  Her party is scheduled for July 11th.  Here is a picture of the cute little tote that I made for a door prize for tomorrow's party.  Hope to see you there!!

Today Ciara starts bible school at Calvary Baptist.  A friend is bringing her daughter and then hanging out with me and we are going to scrapbook a little.  I can't wait to "play" with my friend!!
