Pledge to the Bible

Tonight we went to Calvary Baptist Church for Family Night for VBS.  Ciara attended all week and had a wonderful time.  As the service began the children marched in and some were carrying the flags and bible.  Ah, such a time honored tradition.  I remember teaching VBS and what an important honor it was to be chosen to bear the flag or bible.  As we began reciting pledges, I began thinking about my own life.  I was almost brought to my knees as we said the pledge to the bible.   You know... I pledge allegiance to the Bible, Gods holy word.....(how long it had been since I thought about honoring God's word).  I will make it a lamp unto my feet...(man, have my feet been walking in the dark lately)...and a light unto my path...(I haven't let it light my path in a long, long time)... and will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.  (Oh that I would recall those words and rid this sin from my life).  It is so easy to get out of the habit: out of the habit of church, out of the habit of study, out of the habit of worship, out of the habit of fellowship, out of the habit of love and forgiveness. It takes only moments for Satan to grab you and harden your heart and make you stinky and smelly and rotting in sin.

Sorry... one more comment. I just saw the ticker at the top of your blog. Congratulations! Keep at it! I know it is hard 'cause I'm doing it, too, but we can do it!!! :o)

But thankfully it only takes a moment to get back into that sweet-smelling love & forgiveness!
