First Organizing Step - Planning

So I've decided to join the 28 Day Organizing Challenge.
                     Now I am planning!
This is the first step in my organizing process and it’s an important one.  Here are some questions found on the blog to think about.

1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be?
Well, I want to do laundry in there, obviously.  I want our two cats and dog to have a comfortable space to sleep in.  I want their food and water and the litter box to be in there.  I want to store their food in there.  I want to store my camping equipment in there and also my tools.  I also want to put the cleaners and things associated with cleaning in there.
2. What do I need in or near the room to serve that purpose?  I will need to create a space for the animals to have a bed or pillows, a feeding station, and create a space for the litter box.
3. What can I remove from the room?  The excess laundry needs to be done and put up 1st!!  There is a lot of trash also.
4. What problems do I see with the room?  hmmmm another good question.  I just know it will be a lot of work.
5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?  I might need some storage boxes for under the sink, but I think there are enough cabinets and so forth that I will have the organization space I need.
6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems?  Clean it up, find a place for the stuff I want to be out there and put it there when I am done.  For example.  When I finish using a tool, put it back where it belongs.  Don't just shove it on the cabinet.
7. What kind of a budget do I have to work with right now for storage solutions?  Zippo, Nada, None, Zero.  I will have to be creative and get it done cheaply!
8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room? (28 days!)
9. What is my plan of action?  Well, this weekend I plan to do a lot of laundry and gather some trash.  I may start emptying out the cabinets if I have time to clean them and decide what to put back in there.
10. Who can I ask to help me with this? my daughter.  She won't like it, but I feel like this is her house also.  She needs to know what is stored out there and why.  She also needs to learn organizational skills and what better way to teach her that than to let her be part of the process and learn to think things out.  I think this will be  a great learning opportunity for her.

Alright, enough thinking about it.  Now I have to get to work!

Will you post pictures so we can see the progress? How did it go this weekend? I'm inspired just from reading your post! Now I'm going to think about my "areas".

Love you!

I love this idea. Such an encouraging way to get something accomplished. Let us know how it progresses. I really like the 28 day concept as that seems like it doesn't create so much pressure and stress. Yes, we will love to see the 'after' pictures
