Finish It Friday March 6th

I know it has been a long time since I blogged. So much has happened that my mind is in a whirlwind and I don't even know where to start.

Finish It Friday was great on March 6th. Three girls showed up. Two worked on scrapbooking projects. One worked on cards. The cardmaker used one of my stamps and stamped it a jillion times and colored it in so she could add it to cards later. One scrapbooker brought her computer and printer so she could print out pictures to scrap and add to her album! The other scrapbooker made a tiny little brag book about her newborn son that was shaped like a little t-shirt. I am so glad that we can be so diverse and yet still have fun together. I had a comfy chair for my crocheter friend, but she didn't come. Maybe next time. Some friends said that they had to start something before they could come and finish it. So come on, even if you have to start it there also.

I actually finished a page that I had started at a crop New Year's Eve. It was a hard page to create because it was such a special memory. Ciara fell in love with Colton Swon when he auditioned for American Idol. It just so happens that we were looking for Colton because he is my friend's nephew. He made it to the top 50 and was cut. We had a cd with boondocks on it and because that was his audition song, Ciara was certain that was him singing it and she listened to it over and over. Last spring, my friend called and said that Colton was doing a concert at her town. She asked him if he would meet Ciara. So we drove the 8 hour trip one Friday so we could see the concert. I never told Ciara why we were going. She thought we were just visiting my friend. Saturday afternoon, I told her to get her clothes changed and fix her hair so we could go to something in their town. We walked into the back of the auditorium and she looked inside. Colton was coming down the aisle to meet her. She was STARSTRUCK!!! My friend asked if she knew who that was and she said, "That's Colton Swon." She wouldn't even talk to him. She was so shocked. He called her up on the stage during the concert and sang My Girl to her. She was so scared, I had to carry her up there and hold her. She warmed up a little afterwards, but I don't think she ever said 5 words to him. She did pose for a great picture and get his autograph. She listened to his cd til she memorized every word. How do you scrap a special memory like that? Here is my attempt.

I know that every time she looks at this page, she will remember that weekend and meeting Colton. I hope she can feel how much I loved her to make that long trip so she could have a wonderful treat. Some memories we scrap are ordinary and happen every year, like the first day of school, hunting Easter eggs, or the first flowers of Spring. Some memories are once in a lifetime, super special memories that you know will never come again and you want to cherish those memories forever. Taking Ciara to meet Colton was one of those memories.

Yeah! You actually posted something! That is great! I enjoyed it. What a sacrifice...she will definitely remember that one forever, although when she's old she probably remember what that guy's name is.
